The Middle Atlantic PGA is proud to announce Larry Ringer, PGA as one of two inductees into the MAPGA Hall of Fame Class of 2011, along with the late John Flattery, PGA.
Larry Ringer turned professional in 1971 as an assistant at Belair Golf & CC before taking an assistant job at Congressional CC. He was elected to PGA Membership in 1974 and spent the next couple of years competing in various PGA Tour events. In 1976, Larry went to the U.S. Naval Academy as an assistant. From 1977 to 1991, he was the Head PGA Professional and Golf Coach at the Academy. Larry then served the members at the CC at Woodmore as their Head PGA Professional until 2000. He taught for a number of years at Country Road Family Golf Center before moving to Musket Ridge Golf Club where he taught and was the Head PGA Professional. Larry is currently the PGA Director of Instruction at Musket Ridge.
While Larry’s service to the Section is impressive, his playing record is even more remarkable. Perhaps his claim to fame was leading the US Senior Open at Congressional in 1995 after the first round with an opening 68 as an unheralded PGA club professional (finishing tied for 21st ). He qualified and played in the PGA Professional National Championship: played in 6 times (T-17th three times: ’77, ’78, ’79).
