John Letters of Scotland, the equipment brand with 93 years of clubmaking history, is delighted to announce the launch of the new Tour Black wedges for Spring 2011.
The Tour inspired wedges have been designed with input from John Letters’ staff players, Phil Archer, Chris Hanson and Sam Torrance. Tested on European, Seniors and Challenge tours over the last six months to ensure they stand up to the most demanding conditions, the Tour Black wedges will now be launched to the retail market at the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show (booth #911).
Hand forged from the finest 8620 steel, the Tour Black wedges offer outstanding performance with the feel from the club face demanded by the game’s best players.
John Letters has used all of their 93 years of clubmaking expertise to precision engineer the Tour Black wedges to the tightest tolerances and ensure the most exacting performance, including conforming groove technology that push USGA and R&A rules to the limit.
Featuring a clean, classy look and distinctive black finish, the Tour Black wedges will appeal to golfers that prefer understated excellence over loud logos or fussy designs.
The sleek hand-crafted wedges will be offered with a variety of custom fitted shaft options including the new KBS Black shaft. The black shaft coupled with the distinctive black clubhead and black Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip offers a stunning look whilst reducing glare from the sun. The new Tour Proven True Temper Dynamic Gold Spinner is also offered as a stock option, offering a lower ballflight with upto 700 RPM more backspin than traditional wedge shafts.
Ryder Cup legend Sam Torrance is already a big advocate, taking one look at the new Letters Wedges and commenting: “These are beautiful. Do you have any for me to use in play next week? These will go straight in my bag.”
Speaking about John Letters commitment to product testing and development, Managing Director John Andrew, commented: “The Tour Black Wedge has been tested on the Tour since the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond and we feel we have got this club just right. It will be aimed at the better player who demands the feedback and feel provided from using a forged 8620 steel with a high carbon content.”
Other clubs on the John Letters Tour truck that are currently being tested include a new 2011 Tour Driver, Prototype Hybrids and new Master Model Prototype Irons.
2011 promises to be one of the most exciting product line ups since the brands earlier dominance in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s when most Professional Golfers played the famous John Letters Clubs.
