Player of the Year and Comeback Player of Year both benefit from RIP Technology
POWAY, Calif. – Aldila’s hottest shaft will soon be available in two additional models, the RIP Beta (mid-launch) and the RIP Gamma (higher-balance). The RIP Alpha (low-launch) is the original shaft with lower torque, increased tip stability and better tip stiffness that has been tested and proven across the PGA Tour.
The original RIP Alpha is a tip-stiff, low-to-mid launch with low spin. The Beta version has a slightly softer tip flex for mid launch, The Gamma has the same launch characteristics as the original Alpha with a higher balance point for use with heavier heads to achieve a conventional swing weight.
The 2010 U.S. Open winner used the RIP in his Driver to help propel himself to one of the best years of his career. In addition to winning the U.S. Open, he also posted three other wins between the PGA and European Tours including, the Andalucia Valderrama Masters, The Celtic Manor Wales Open, and a comeback victory at the World Chevron Challenge. He was named the 2010 Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America; won the Golf Writers Trophy (a vote of the Association of Golf Writers); and shared European Tour Player of the Year honors.
Another player who greatly benefited from Aldila’s RIP Technology was the PGA Tour’s Comeback Player of the Year for 2010. Using Aldila’s RIP Technology in all of his woods and hybrid clubs he won the 2010 Greenbrier Classic, where he posted a record-tying 59; won the season-opening SBS Championship; and finished the season with a win at the JBWere Masters in Australia. After finishing outside of the Top 125 on the money list in 2009, he finished 2010 in 38th place.
“The RIP™ employs patent-pending technology and exclusive materials to completely transform shaft design from the inside out,” said John Oldenburg, Aldila Vice President of Engineering. “Through the use of computer modeling technology and exclusive materials provided by the Aldila Materials Division, Aldila engineers were able to completely rethink golf shaft design and performance. The result is a revolutionary shaft with optimum flex and torque characteristics with incredible feel.”
According to Oldenburg, RIP Technology™ repositions the materials and shaft design patterns to maximize the flexural and torsional performance characteristics of the carbon fiber. In addition, the hoop strength (or cross-sectional stability of the shaft) is also increased to provide greater shaft stability near the clubhead for maximum shot control. RIP Technology provides for a shaft with lower torque, increased tip stability, and optimum tip stiffness than any shaft made with similar materials employing a conventional ply configuration.
The RIP was also an integral part of Aldila becoming the #1 Shaft on Tour in 2010. “The Hottest Shafts In Golf” won the majority of the wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer counts throughout the season, according to the Darrell Survey. Aldila had more wood shafts in play on Tour and nearly two times as many hybrid shafts in play than any other graphite shaft manufacturer.
Aldila has the unique ability to fuse high-end design with cutting edge technology. They are continually on the leading edge of the golf world through their relentless pursuit of the next best innovation. They do the experimenting so you don’t have to. Pushing success to the edge and redefining how power should feel. Are you playing Aldila, or just graphite?
