CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 1, 2011) – Joe Rice, who has been a key member of the NGCOA’s executive leadership team for the past 10 years, has been named director of membership. Rice, the association’s chief marketing officer since 2007, assumes the role held for the past four years by Leslie Remme.

Rice will be responsible for membership acquisition and retention at the association that represents golf course owners and operators throughout the U.S. He will also continue to lead the NGCOA’s government relations and advocacy activities, as well as guide the association’s role in PerformanceTrak, a collaborative service of the NGCOA and the PGA of America that provides revenue and rounds-played benchmarking data to participating courses.

“Joe has consistently contributed at a very high level and helped the association grow in stature and respect,” said NGCOA CEO Mike Hughes. “I’m confident Joe’s understanding of the needs of our members and chapters, as well as his commitment to their success, will continue to distinguish his work and enhance the support the NGCOA provides.”

As CMO, Rice was instrumental in the corporate rebranding of NGCOA that included the redesign of the association’s website and award-winning Golf Business magazine. He also helped reengineer the association’s financial benchmarking program that resulted in a partnership with the PGA of America and the introduction of PerformanceTrak.

Prior to being named CMO, Rice was publisher of Golf Business for six years. Before joining the NGCOA, he was associated with leading marketing firms in the Southeast.
