ORLANDO, FL (January 28, 2011) – Two products that proved to be true groundbreakers – the TaylorMade Penta TP Golf Ball and Eazy Bag – topped the 18th edition of the ING Industry Honors, announced Friday at the PGA Merchandise Show.
Called by some the “Academy Awards of the Golf Industry,” the ING Industry Honors program is conducted yearly by the non-profit, 21-year-old International Network Of Golf to recognize outstanding achievement in the golf business.
Nominees in a dozen categories are submitted throughout the year from anyone in the golf industry. Sub-committees that include experts in each category then trim the entries to the top three in each category. ING members then vote electronically to determine the winners, who were announced and recognized at the Industry Honors Presentation Press Conference Friday in ClubING in the Orange County Convention Center.
ING’s membership is open to anyone in the golf industry, related industries and media. ING’s mission is to enhance and promote communication and education in golf.
The TaylorMade Penta TP Golf Ball is the first tour ball with five solid-layers, each engineered to optimize performance for the driver, long-irons, middle-irons, short-irons and partial wedges. Penta TP has been used in 18 victories worldwide, including the 2010 PGA Championship.
Eazy Bag, tops in the Product Ingenuity-Emerging Companies category, offers a unique front opening, which provides easy access to your clubs and eliminates the need to lift the clubs up and over the edge of the bag. This can greatly reduce the strain on the shoulders and back.
Another big winner in the ING Industry Honors was Major Dan Rooney in the Business Achievement category. A former F-16 pilot, Rooney founded the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships for the children and spouses of military men and women disabled or killed while serving.
Other winners included Okeeheelee Golf Club in the Player Development Category presented by Golf 20/20, and Visit Wales Ryder Cup Promotions campaign. A complete list of winners is below.
Highlight of the year for ING is the 21st Annual ING Spring Conference at PGA Tour site Innisbrook Resort May 22-26. For details, visit www.inggolf.com, or call 407-328-0500.
ING exists to bring golf media together with representatives from all walks of the golf industry to discuss issues, exchange information and improve communication.
