SAN DIEGO, CA. – Heritage Golf Group is pleased to announce that Palmetto Hall Plantation Club has been selected by the eGolf Professional Tour to host the 2011 season-opening event for the second consecutive year. The event, the Swiftwick Shootout at Palmetto Hall Plantation Club on Hilton Head Island, SC, will take place February 16th -19th, 2011.
“We are truly honored to be hosting the eGolf Professional Tour’s season-opening event for the second consecutive year,” said Ray Dznowski, Director of Operations for the Heritage Collection on Hilton Head Island. “Many of the players on the eGolf Tour are faces that you will see on the PGA TOUR in years to come. Being selected to host this event is a fantastic compliment to the Palmetto Hall Golf Club and a great showcase of the level of golf courses that are available to visitors of Hilton Head Island as a golf destination.”
The eGolf Professional TOUR players had terrific success in 2010, with 12 of their players earning their PGA TOUR cards for the 2011 Season at PGA TOUR Q-School, while another 11 secured their TOUR cards via top-25 finishes on the 2010 Nationwide Tour money list. In addition to those players, another 43 solidified either full or conditional Nationwide Tour status for the 2011 season, with one of those players being Hilton Head Island local, Chris Epperson.
For the Swiftwick Shootout at Palmetto Hall, a field of 216 players is expected to compete for an estimated purse of $250,000 and an expected winner’s share of $35,000. Players will split the first two rounds over the Cupp and Hills courses, with each player playing one round on each course through 36 holes before the field is cut for the final two rounds. The final two rounds will be solely contested on the Cupp course.
Player commitments will not be official until the entry deadline of February 7th, but two early names to keep an eye on are Drew Weaver of High Point, NC and Brian Harman of Savannah, GA. Another notable commitment at this time is that of Sterling Sharpe, a five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers and a University of South Carolina Alum.
