PEORIA, ARIZ. – The Antigua Group, Inc.-celebrating its 32nd year in business as one of the nation’s leading designers and marketers of genuine golf and sports apparel under its Antigua brand-announced today that it has been named supplier of staff and volunteer uniforms for the Travelers Championship, Connecticut’s PGA TOUR event, for the 16th consecutive year.

Antigua will again provide apparel for more than 3,500 volunteers at this year’s Travelers Championship, being held June 20 through June 26 at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.

“Being chosen as the supplier of staff and volunteer uniforms for the Travelers Championship for 16 straight years is a very big deal,” said Ron McPherson, President and CEO of Antigua. “In this day and age of vendors giving away product to lure tournaments to use their product, I believe our association with the Travelers Championship may be unprecedented. Every year we battle with the industry’s top brands for the tournament’s business, but we continue to do a good job so fortunately the tournament keeps renewing us. Jim Mayo, our sales representative in Connecticut, is a major reason why our association with the tournament has continued for this long.”

Mayo-a 23-year Antigua veteran who has been the company’s only rep calling on the tournament during the 16-year run-and along with Antigua’s event department have been instrumental in continuing the Travelers Championship’s business over the years thanks to their service, expertise and knowledge of the event. Other reasons the longtime business relationship continues to prosper include:

• Antigua’s remarkable ability to handle such a complex event with more than 20 logo designs;

• Antigua’s amazing ability to turn around orders in less than 24 hours;

• Antigua’s numerous annual choices of men’s and ladies’ matchable product that most of its competitors can’t equal.

“Gary Chittenden, the Antigua/Slazenger Eastern Regional Manager for Golf, has embraced the Travelers Championship and has done an awesome job securing the bids year in and year out,” McPherson says, “while John Anderson also helped immensely in securing this year’s business.”
