Geraldine Doran selected as sales director at highly decorated new design
(THE COLONY, Tex.) – The Old American Golf Club – designed by Tripp Davis and PGA TOUR/Ryder Cup star Justin Leonard – has enhanced its value-driven membership program by selecting Geraldine Doran, a golf industry professional with more than 15 years experience, as sales director.
Doran will oversee outreach to members and potential members at The Old American, which opened in September and garnered “Best New” honors from GOLF Magazine, LINKS Magazine, Golfweek and AVID Golfer. Membership at The Old American is an alternative to traditional private club arrangements that tie golfers to large initiation fees, monthly dues and costly food and beverage minimums.
The Annual Premier Access program includes golf (cart fee only) seven days a week, full use of practice facilities, passes and preferred rates for guests, handicapping services, a full tournament schedule and numerous other benefits for $5,000 (individual) or $6,000 (family). A corporate membership program is also available.
“Geraldine’s experience as both an industry professional and a golfer will be a tremendous asset as she helps people explore one of the most unique membership options in the Metroplex,” says Jeff Kindred, PGA General Manager.
Prior to joining The Old American, Doran worked at several of the Dallas-area’s most respected private and public clubs in a myriad of sales positions. She also served as Pro-Am coordinator for the PGA TOUR’s Byron Nelson Classic. Doran is an accomplished amateur golfer, qualifying for the 2005 USGA Women’s Mid-Amateur and playing four years of collegiate golf at Texas Christian University.
“The Old American is generating a tremendous amount of buzz in the Dallas golf community,” says Doran. “I’m looking forward to contributing to what is quickly becoming known as the most sought after playing experience in Texas.”

About The Old American Golf Club
Inspired by the ‘Golden Age’ of golf course architecture between 1911 and 1937, The Old American’s natural contours, hazard styles, native grasses and green shapes were influenced by such masterpieces as Shinnecock Hills, National Golf Links, Prairie Dunes and Crystal Downs.
Davis, an accomplished amateur player and former All-American at the University of Oklahoma and Leonard, who played his college golf at the University of Texas, toured and played a handful of America’s classic Golden Age golf courses prior to starting the design process for The Old American.
The result is a golf course that emphasizes strategy and shot-making and flows with a natural rhythm from first tee to 18th green. The Old American features six sets of tees, ranging from the 5215-yard forward markers to the 7174-yard “Leonard” tournament tees. Davis and Leonard conceived the routing and layout with both medal and match play in mind, as golfers are required to hold “steady to par” through a number of holes, but enticed to gamble on birdie or better during select stretches of the course.
