CARLSBAD, CA – COBRA-PUMA Golf announced at the PGA Merchandise Show the addition of Jonas Blixt, Blair O’Neal and Diego Velasquez to their staff, playing Cobra Golf equipment and wearing PUMA Golf’s performance apparel and footwear. The international trio joins a growing roster of young professional golfers, teaming up with the ranks of Lexi Thompson, Anna Nordqvist and Johan Edfors, who all have signed to play Cobra clubs and PUMA Golf apparel and footwear.
“Each one of these professional golfers bring their own sense of style and flair to the game and the COBRA and PUMA brands,” Bob Philion, President COBRA-PUMA Golf commented. “Blixt, O’Neal, and Velasquez are young, upcoming golfers with promising futures and strong skill sets. Their individuality, drive, skills and personality make them perfect ambassadors for us and we are excited to have all three of them representing COBRA and PUMA Golf.”
Blixt, O’Neal and Velasquez have been avid golfers since childhood. All hail from different backgrounds of golf but embody PUMA Golf’s inclusive, joyful attitude and Cobra Golf’s competitive spirit.
Jonas Blixt
Jonas Blixt, 26, is a Swedish-born professional golfer who has played on the Nationwide Tour since 2009 with several top 10 finishes. Blixt attended Florida State University where he was a 2-time NCAA All-American and 4-time ACC Academic All-American. Known for his impressive short game, Blixt heads to the 2011 Nationwide Tour with full-time status after his strong earnings in 2010. As a COBRA-PUMA Golf ambassador Blixt will wear PUMA Golf performance apparel and play Cobra clubs for all of his events.
Blair O’Neal
Blair O’Neal, 29, has been golfing since the age of 11, playing in tournaments all around the world. She played for Arizona State University where she won two NCAA Long Drive contests and recently competed on the Golf Channel’s Big Break: Dominican Republic, where she won MVP and an exemption to the 2011 LPGA Kia Classic in March. Blair has also been modeling throughout her golfing career and was named one of Sports Illustrated “Top 50 Hottest Athletes of All Time” in 2008. In 2011, Blair will play a mix of events on the Futures Tour, Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour through sponsor exemptions. Blair will be sporting some of PUMA Golf’s newest styles during the season, including the Sass Wn’s J performance shoe, Duo Swing Mesh Polo and Golf Performance Polo. Watch out for Blair’s killer swing with her new Cobra drivers, fairways, hybrids and irons.
Diego Velasquez
Diego Velasquez, 22, is a professional golfer from Bogota, Columbia and attended Oregon State University. Velasquez was a four year starter at OSU and set a single season scoring record in 2010 along with earning First Team All-American Honors. Diego’s impressive and consistent performances have helped earn him the number 4 spot in GolfWeek Magazine’s 2010 collegiate individual rankings and a sponsor exemption in the 2011 Nationwide Tour. Diego will make his professional debut on the Nationwide Tour at the Panama Claro Championship where he will be playing Cobra clubs and sporting the newest line of PUMA Golf’s performance gear.
