Club, bag, training aid, or lucky socks, the writers at golf’s leading website-joined this month by “Seinfeld” star (and avid golfer) John O’Hurley-love to play favorites.
Portland, Ore. (Feb. 15, 2011) – Golf fashions come and go, new drivers and putters hit the shelves all year long. Yet every golfer has a favorite piece of equipment, something he (or she) simply can’t face the golf course without.
In honor of the recently concluded PGA Merchandise Show-the game’s annual trade-show-cum-toy-store-and the launch of The A Position’s new equipment website www.GearEffectGolf.com, we asked the game’s leading golf-and-travel writers to wax poetic about their favorite gear.
The responses range from decades-old putters to a ball mark repair tool (that’s any ball mark repair tool, as long as other golfers actually use theirs!). Answers also include drivers, pull carts, and sunglasses. And a few “new favorites”-attention-worthy items from the PGA Show that now get the chance to play their way into our writers’ personal rotas.
Joining our usual scribes this month is John O’Hurley, who played catalogue impresario J. Peterman on TV’s “Seinfeld.” Not only a rabid golfer, O’Hurley also collects antique golf equipment and has parlayed his cult-status sitcom role into actual ownership of the newly revived (yes, it really exists) J. Peterman Catalogue. Hint: O’Hurley’s pet product is more than 100 years old!
The entire “A List” of equipment favorites can be found at theaposition.com.
