Getting older doesn’t have to mean shorter off the tees
February 14, 2011 – Tampa, FL. One of the most common complaints of “baby boomer” golfers is the loss of driving distance.
This is not surprising, because after age 55, loss of flexibility, declining strength, and playing with pain are issues many golfers
will face. GolfTEC, the world leader in golf instruction, pursued the challenges of aging swings by studying golfers over the
age of 55. The key findings of the study are:
• Lost distance can be recovered, and many times increased, with a comprehensive approach that includes
technique, equipment and conditioning.
• Very few golf instructors are qualified to address the issues of an aging swing.
• Custom clubs, matched to the needs of the aging swing, hold significant upside compared to “off the rack”
equipment.
• Traditional approaches, used on younger golfers, are no longer as effective.
• The results of marginal swing mechanics are amplified as we age .
“Swing speed is a critical factor in driving distance and as we age, we lose flexibility and strength. Most golfers over 55 start
to battle a steeper and slower swing,” according to Mark Nixon, GolfTEC Tampa President. “At GolfTEC, we wanted to
create a program that would address all of these issues and put the fun back into golf for many people. We’ve taken the
Baby Boomer challenges very seriously and now I require all of my coaches to be certified to teach the aging swing. Our
new Baby Boomer program is just one more reason GolfTEC is the Proven Path to Proven Results. ”
GolfTEC Tampa is launching its Baby Boomer program with a series of free Performance Clinics specifically designed to help
golfers understand the issues of the aging swing and the most effective corrections available. The clinics address angle of
attack, swing path, the best equipment for older swings, playing with pain, and golf-specific drills to increase flexibility.
The free clinics are first come, first served and will be held at all four Tampa Bay area GolfTEC Centers:
