Award-winning firm will leverage extensive construction management experience, focus on booming chinese market
(SCOTTSDALE, AZ) — Schmidt-Curley Design — one of the world’s most active and innovative golf course design firms — announces its formation of Green Dynasty Golf Course Construction Management, LLC.
The venture into construction management is nothing new for firm principals Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley, founders of Flagstick Construction Management in 1997. Flagstick’s resume of notable credits includes both of the massive Mission Hills projects in China, Thailand’s acclaimed Amata Spring Golf Club and numerous others around the globe. Schmidt-Curley sold its interest in Flagstick last year and has subsequently created Green Dynasty to concentrate on the booming China market.
With its fundamental emphasis on unmatched customer satisfaction and two fully-staffed China offices, the Schmidt-Curley / Green Dynasty team is devoted to providing the ultimate professional services in golf course design and construction.
Green Dynasty’s main focus will be Schmidt-Curley projects; however, the company is open to providing services to other golf course architects should mutually appropriate opportunities and circumstances exist.
“Through our many years of golf construction management experience — especially in China where language, logistics and cultural differences can pose additional hurdles to successful completion of projects — we have assembled an all-star staff to ensure clients receive the best possible product in a timely and cost-effective manner,” says Lee Schmidt, a 40-year veteran of the golf course construction and design business. “There has been a recent rush of architects looking to break into the country, but our comprehensive understanding of the market is a huge advantage we enjoy over competitors.”
Green Dynasty will be managed by its president and partner, Owen Hester, formerly with Flagstick.
“Owen brings an ideal balance of knowledge about the golf course construction process and substantial industry experience, as well as a wealth of connections to the best talent in the industry,” adds Schmidt. “We are fortunate to have such a highly-credentialed and well-liked individual at the helm.”
Green Dynasty’s first project is a 36-hole, Schmidt-Curley-designed facility in Kunming, China on a spectacular property overlooking Lake Foshan.
States Hester: “Our initial engagement is taking shape on one of the best sites under construction today, and we intend to create a golf experience that will soon challenge the top courses in the country.”
