El Paso, Texas, Feb. 22, 2011 – Butterfield Trail Golf Club announced today that it has been honored by LINKS Magazine as one of the Top-25 Municipal Golf Courses in the U.S. The award comes on the heels of being honored by Golfweek magazine as the No. 3 Best Municipal course as well as the Top-25 Tom Fazio Courses You Can Play by LINKS Magazine.
“We are extremely pleased and honored to have been ranked yet again by both LINKS Magazine and Golfweek magazine as one of the best municipal courses in the nation,” said Monica Lombraña, director of aviation at El Paso International Airport, owner of the property. “These awards are a reflection of the vision and of the hard work of many individuals it takes in creating a first-class golf course for our region.”
Owned by the El Paso International Airport and managed by KemperSports, the par-72 championship daily fee golf course was designed at 7,307 yards, featuring more than 55 feet of elevation changes. Striking vertical transitions lend the course to a challenging round full of memorable shots. Matching the spectacular design are world-class guest services that make every golfer feel like a country club member for a day. Combining these elements to create a remarkable day of golf fulfills the developer’s mission of creating a destination facility that attracts golfers from across the country.
Since its debut in June 2007, Butterfield Trail Golf Club has been honored with various awards including GOLF magazine’s “Top 10 New Courses You Can Play” as well as Golfweek magazine’s “50 Best New Courses,” the highest ranking of any golf course in the state of Texas. The course also has been recognized by Golf Digest as one of “America’s Best New Courses.”
“We remain honored to be listed among the best municipal courses in the United States,” said Val D’Souza, general manager of Butterfield Trail Golf Club. “Butterfield Trail is a testament to the vision and teamwork that the El Paso International Airport has dedicated to the future of El Paso.”
