(Londonderry, New Hampshire) — Danish brand ECCO — maker of the world’s most comfortable, technically-advanced footwear — confirms that Staff Player Aaron Baddeley wore its luxurious World Class GTX golf shoes en route to a two-shot victory at the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open, contested this past weekend at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA.
Showcasing the ECCO logo on his shirt collar, the 29-year-old Australian got up and down from the right fringe at the last hole to finish with a 69 and secure a two-stoke win. He was joined in the final group by fellow ECCO Staff Player Fred Couples, who tied for seventh.
“It’s a great weekend for ECCO, with Aaron winning his third PGA Tour title and qualifying for the Masters, Fred playing so well and the runner-up choosing to wear our new BIOM Golf Natural Motion shoes,” says Jesper Thuen, Sponsor and Event Manager, ECCO Golf.
One of golf’s best short game players, Baddeley continues to build on an already impressive list of accomplishments. He initially burst onto the international golf scene in 1999, by becoming the youngest player (17) to capture the Holden Australian Open. The win established him as one of the most heralded amateurs in history, a standing he validated by defending his title the following year. He joined the PGA Tour full time in 2003 and has also won the 2006 Verizon Heritage and 2007 FBR Open.
“It’s funny because I feel like I’ve been actually making a lot of progress, but it was never really showing on the scoreboard,” said Baddeley. “So these last few weeks have really been nice to start to put some scores on the board. This week has been really nice.”
ECCO golf shoes are also worn in competition by scores of international Tour stars, including Stuart Appleby, Thomas Bjorn, Thongchai Jaidee, Thorbjorn Olesen, Andreas Harto, Jennifer Johnson and many others.
