THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. – PowerBilt Golf has partnered with Puetz Golf in Seattle, Wash., to support the Northwest Junior Golf Tour by assisting the HB Foundation Scholarship Program. In an effort to recognize youngsters who have gone through the Northwest Junior golf program, college scholarships will be awarded to junior golfers based on their playing ability, academics, citizenship (community activities) and extracurricular activities (additional school activities)
PowerBilt Golf is looking to partner with junior tours and golf retailers that have contributed to their local markets. “We have set out to develop a community-driven program that helps golfers in their formative years,” says PowerBilt President Ross Kvinge. “This is why Northwest Junior Golf Tour and Puetz Golf are going to be outstanding partners with PowerBilt in the HB Foundation scholarship programs. We’re excited to have the opportunity to help grow the game of golf and assist junior golfers with their higher education costs.”
The scholarships, administered through the HB Foundation, will be awarded in the amount of $1,650 to six (6) individual high school seniors. Eligible students are those who participate in the Northwest Junior Golf Tour. Interested applicants can download an application and get more information by going to www.jrgt.com or www.thehbfoundation.org.
The Northwest Junior Tour, based at McCormick Woods Golf Course, is operated by PGA Professional Jeff Mehlert and is a not-for-profit group committed to helping youth, regardless of economic or social background, reach their potential through the great game of golf. “Our Junior Tour has always strived to make golf more accessible to junior golfers. The scholarship program is the next step in helping young golfers to not only improve their game, but succeed in life as well,” says Mehlert.
Both PowerBilt and Puetz Golf have demonstrated a commitment to developing junior golfers. For the past decade, PowerBilt has offered hi-tech junior clubs touted by many as the best on the market. For decades, Puetz Golf has operated junior clinics to help introduce youngsters to the game and hone their skills. “Teaming up to create a scholarship program takes our commitment to young golfers in our community to a new level,” says Mike Livingston, Puetz Golf General Manager.
