Alexandria, VA – March 10, 2011 – The Club Managers Association of America is pleased to announce the success of the recent 84th World Conference and Club Business Expo held in Orlando, FL, February 24-28. The Conference offered club management professionals from around the world the opportunity to take part in more than 70 education sessions and peer networking events as well as preview the latest products and services available in the industry at the Club Business Expo.
Day 1 gave attendees a full day of world-class education on topics from “Creating and Losing a Trust Culture” to “Seven Powerful Branding Strategies to Build Your Brand” as well as the latest in social networking usage, expense reduction strategy and spa and fitness trends. The day concluded with CMAA’s Networking Event, an exclusive and private experience at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter TM at Universal Studios.
Day 2 began with the Opening Business Session where CMAA CEO Jim Singerling, CCM, CEC, presented the State of the Association. Highlights include new CMAA member offerings including the Risk Management department, the forthcoming CMAA University and the enhanced 2011 Finance and Operations Survey which will be completed in conjunction with Club Benchmarking. PGA of America Chief Executive Officer, Joe Steranka, was recognized with the CMAA Leadership Award for his efforts to unite the industry in the collaborative We Are Golf coalition.
Attendees then browsed the Club Business Expo, marking the official return of the CMAA exposition. Hundreds of club-industry specific vendors shared their latest products, services and resources. The Club Foundation Event and Live Auction held that evening raised more than $100,000 benefiting the scholarship and grant programs of the Foundation.
On Day 3, attendees kicked off the day with The Club Foundation Run With the Presidents. Proceeds from the event benefited Special Olympics of Florida and The Club Foundation. At the day’s two general education sessions, attendees were inspired and enlightened by acclaimed keynote speakers, Dan Clark and Jim Kane. Attendees and vendors alike enjoyed the business atmosphere of the second day of the Club Business Expo and enjoyed lunch courtesy of the New Orleans Marriott, site of the 2012 event.
On Day 4, attendees could choose from a number of round-table sessions focusing on HOAs, yacht clubs, city clubs and financial issues as well as other educational sessions on CMAA’s ten competency areas. The Managers’ Awards Luncheon was an inspirational, annual celebration recognizing the Who’s Who of CMAA including awards and recognitions of the professional development achievements of individual CMAA members; CMAA Chapter recruitment, education and overall achievements; and Idea Fair Award winners. The day closed with the Closing Business Session and the election announcements of the 2011-2012 CMAA Board of Directors.
With more than 24 credit hours of education available to attendees, the event was a sound investment of time and resources which resulted in tangible personal and professional benefit for all participants.
