Price Leads Impressive ‘Team Bridgestone’ Showing in Newport Beach

Covington, Ga. – In Newport Beach, California, this weekend, Nick Price made his presence felt early on delivering a Champions Tour record 11-under 60 in Friday’s first round. Price then carded back-to-back 3-under par 68’s to finsih 17-under for the week, besting the field by one shot. Fellow Bridgestone Golf Tour Team members, Joe Ozaki and Fred Couples also managed to secure spots in the Top 5 with T3 and T5 finishes, respectively.

Price relied on the incredible control and consistency of the Bridgestone TOUR B330 golf ball to lead the field in driving accuracy hitting over 88% of his fairways for the tournament. In addition, Price put the incredible feel and precision of the B330 on display garnering top 10 finishes in the greens in regulation, putts per round, putts per green in regulation and eagles categories. With the victory, Price earned $255,000 and vaulted himself into the #2 position in the early Charles Schwab Cup points standings.

“Nick had a wonderful performance last weekend at the Honda Classic in some very tough conditions, so we are not surprised he came out firing on all the cylinders the way we did,” said Dan Murphy, Vice President of Marketing – Bridgestone Golf, Inc. “We are pleased that Nick continues to have such success with Bridgestone balls. He’s been with us for the better part of 20 years and we feel fortunate to have been able to share in so much of his success.”

Nick Price wasn’t the only Bridgestone Golf tour team member to make his presence felt at the Toshiba Classic. Fred Couples, who also uses the TOUR B330 ball, was a model of consistency carding rounds of 66-67-67 for an impressive total of 13-under par and a T5 finish. Meanwhile, Joe Ozaki fired rounds of 68-64-67 to cement a tie for third place. As impressive as the three Top 5 finishes were, perhaps most impressive was Hall of Famer Lee Trevino relying on his TOUR B330-RX ball to ‘break his age’ for the first time ever in his career – carding a 1-under par 70 in the first round.

The B330 family of balls feature a street price of $42.99 per dozen (suggested retail price of $56 per dozen) and are available now at golf specialty stores and green grass retailers nationwide.
