Inspired by family and following its core belief that membership equates to fellowship, McConnell Golf introduces a Heritage legacy plan for its seven clubs while continuing to promote its cutting-edge, Carolinas-based corporate offering
RALEIGH, NC – When Greensboro’s Ron Mitchell first heard about McConnell Golf’s new Heritage Membership, he immediately contacted his 27-year-old son, Austin, a Raleigh business owner, to discuss it. The plan would allow Austin to join Raleigh Country Club with no initiation fee and pay a small percentage of the monthly dues.
The elder Mitchell – a semi-retired business executive and longtime member at Cardinal Country Club in Greensboro – recognized that his son’s new business venture would require entertaining clients on the golf course. Two days later, Austin became a Raleigh CC member.
“I just felt like the Heritage Membership was a tremendous opportunity for anyone with children who are young adults and young professionals,” said Mitchell. “Their children can join a nice country club at a fraction of the cost and enjoy all the amenities of a country club for entertaining for both personally and professionally.”
It was McConnell Golf’s recent purchase of Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro that inspired the company’s new Heritage legacy membership. With a PGA TOUR venue now among the company’s impressive, seven-club selection, the McConnell Golf team wanted to design a plan that allowed its private club membership the opportunity to offer their sons and daughters – or their own parents – the ability to join a special multiple-club grouping with no initiation fee and the ability to choose their own home club.
This new McConnell membership opportunity is a full, Golf Family membership and allows for access to all facilities and amenities. “McConnell Golf wanted to provide this unique opportunity for our members to share the tradition of membership with current and future generations,” said McConnell Golf president John McConnell. “It is just another value added for our members.”
Sedgefield grew McConnell Golf’s impressive stable of private club offerings to seven, a list that includes award-winning courses such as Old North State in New London, N.C., a Tom Fazio-design consistently rated top five in state by North Carolina Golf Panel; The Cardinal in Greensboro, N.C., a Pete Dye original and redesign, and long-time site of Cardinal Amateur; and The Reserve in Pawley’s Island, S.C., a Greg Norman design among the Top 50 by South Carolina Golf Panel.
McConnell Golf earlier introduced an innovative corporate club program developed with the belief that membership to a top-notch country club would be an ideal way to enhance a corporate team’s quality of life, and help it build relationships for both business and pleasure. Both new membership offerings support McConnell Golf’s continued focus on creating unique memberships realistically designed for today’s family and corporation, making their offerings particularly attractive to those who live, work or play in the Carolinas.
“Our members are members of seven clubs and we want to design memberships to fit a seven-club operation,” said McConnell. “With our corporate membership, we believe your team deserves to be rewarded. Same with your family.”
