ORLANDO, Fla. (March 22, 2011) – Golf course managers experienced in the growing trend of revenue management will discuss at the upcoming Golf Inc. conference ways they employ the strategy to optimize their tee sheets and increase revenues.
Mike Loustalot, vice president, GolfNow Sales & Strategic Partnerships, Golf Channel Solutions, will moderate “Best Practices in Revenue Management: Lessons from the Pros” on March 29 at the Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla.
Steve Harker, manager of Golf Business Solutions for Walt Disney World Golf; Scott Beasley, vice president of Operations for Meadowbrook Golf; and Brock Nicholas, vice president of Operations for Harmony Development and general manager for Troon Golf in Orlando, will discuss how revenue management techniques are helping their facilities attract more golfers and earn higher rates for their tee times.
“Revenue management is still a misunderstood and under-utilized business strategy among some course operators,” Loustalot said. “Our goal is to help owners and managers get a better handle on revenue management and decide which strategy is right for their operations and how to most effectively meet their objectives.”
One of the misconceptions involving revenue management, according to Loustalot, is that only facilities supported by sophisticated technology programs can benefit.
“Technology certainly enables revenue management to be practiced most efficiently and precisely, but the concept can be employed at any facility, regardless of how they manage their tee sheets,” he said.
Among the topics the panel will discuss:
• Identifying and segmenting player types into “price buckets”
• How revenue management helps courses deal with golfers waiting until the last minute to reserve a tee time
• Opportunities to use revenue management to support programs that grow the game
