Junior golf program will impact the San Jose / Silicon Valley area schools
San Jose, CA – When PGA Professional Jeff Sanchez decided his lifelong dream of playing professional tournament golf had come to an end, he quickly turned his attention to his next dream in life, impacting and being a mentor to young students and growing the game that he loves. Sanchez took full advantage of what Entrepreneur Magazine calls one of the Top 10 most affordable and best franchise deals, by acquiring a new TGA Premier Junior Golf franchise in San Jose, California.
TGA Premier Junior Golf, one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf and the only national after-school golf enrichment program in the country, is one of the country’s most unique and fastest growing recreational programs for kids. It has also rapidly become a golden business opportunity for self-starters and PGA Professionals who enjoy working with children in a business venture that provides a unique entry into youth sports, education, and the golf industry.
Sanchez, whose TGA territory covers southwest San Jose, Cupertino, and Saratoga, has been in the golf industry as a professional since 1997. He became a PGA Class A Member in 1999 where he has since excelled in a number of areas including playing the game professionally, golf operations, as well as teaching the game of golf at public, private, and resort facilities. Sanchez is currently the Head Golf Professional at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose.
In addition to impacting the students through TGA, Sanchez serves as a Peer Mentor to PGA Apprentices in the South Bay Area, directing their education and career development. He also serves as a PGA Ambassador, participating in relationship marketing initiatives at golf leisure travel destinations worldwide.
Joshua Jacobs, founder and CEO of TGA Premier Junior Golf is delighted to have another PGA of America member join the family of TGA franchises.
“We are very excited to have another PGA Professional join the TGA family and continue our sustained growth in California. Jeff’s experience as a PGA member shows his commitment to mentoring his peers, which will serve him well when it comes to the youth he will impact. With over 40% of our TGA franchises owned by PGA Professionals, TGA provides a wonderful opportunity for PGA Members who want to own an affordable and successful business in golf, while growing the game and impacting its future”, said Jacobs.
Through a combination of Jeff’s career in golf and his wife Mary’s background in Early Childhood Education, both recognize the opportunity to have a positive influence on others through TGA.
“We were drawn to TGA because the program is about so much more than just the game of golf. Golf is already my career, but TGA is different. As a PGA Professional, I recognized the value of the unique educational curriculum and character development. As a parent, I recognized the impact TGA is making in our local communities,” said Sanchez.
TGA is the only national after school program that teaches the fundamentals of the game of golf, its rules, etiquette, and life values, while promoting education for kindergarten students through the eighth grade. Since its inception in six Los Angeles schools in the fall of 2003, the premier junior golf program is now offered nationwide in 2,200 schools reaching 108,000 students in 21 states.
The TGA enrichment curriculum, developed by PhDs in child and curriculum development, along with PGA and LPGA golf professionals, is a five-level program designed for kids to advance from one level to the next while building self-esteem as well as confidence in terms of education, life skills and character development. The steps also include teaching fundamental math, science, English, and history associated with the program.
“We are looking forward to growing our TGA business and impacting the youth of the San Jose and Silicon Valley by bringing affordable and accessible golf directly to area schools through our unique five-level education based programs,” said Sanchez.
