THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. – PowerBilt Golf partnered with Joe & Leigh’s Discount Golf Pro Shop in Massachusetts to support The First Tee of Massachusetts through the HB Foundation Scholarship Program. In an effort to recognize children that have gone through The First Tee program, college scholarships will be awarded to Junior golfers based on their playing ability, academics, citizenship (community activities), and extra-curricular activities (additional school activities).
The HB Foundation will award scholarships this year to graduating seniors who participate in The First Tee of Massachusetts program. Interested applicants can download an application and get more information by going to the Massachusetts Golf Association, www.mgalinks.org or The HB Foundation site www.thehbfoundation.org.
In conjunction with the opening of MGA Links at Mamantapett, the Massachusetts Golf Association expanded its outreach to young children by partnering with The First Tee, a national junior development initiative of the World Golf Foundation. In addition to learning basic skills of the game, The First Tee participants are introduced to the nine core values inherent in the game: honesty, integrity, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, sportsmanship, judgment, respect and courtesy.
Golf Digest recognized Joe & Leigh’s as one of “America’s Top 100 Clubfitters” and it now names Joe & Leigh’s to its “TOP 100 Golf Shops in America” list for the 18th time! “The recognition from Golf Digest clearly states our commitment to our community of friends who extend their trust to us and visit the Shop”, says Leigh Bader, Co-owner of Joe & Leigh’s Discount golf shop at Pine Oaks.
“At Pine Oaks we like to think we have a truly Family environment. Over the years we’ve had thousands of kids come through our junior program and thousands more adults receive instruction on the personal level. The mix of men, women and children of every background that play at Pine Oaks creates a very friendly environment for all players of all skill levels” adds Bader.
Powerbilt Golf is looking forward to working with The First Tee and local operators like Joe & Leigh’s that have contributed to their local market. “Powerbilt is excited to have the opportunity to help grow the game of golf and assist Junior Golfers with their higher education costs. We have set out to develop a community driven program and the First Tee of Massachusetts and Joe & Leigh’s Discount Golf Pro Shop are outstanding partners to develop these programs” says PowerBilt President Ross Kvinge.
