ORLANDO, Fla. – April 1, 2011…Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, today announced that Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif., was recognized by Golfweek magazine as one of the top 20 courses in California, according to Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play State-by-State for 2011.

Golfweek’s raters for the Best Courses You Can Play State-by-State listing evaluate each course on a variety of criteria, and the number of courses recognized per state varies based on course supply, population and level of play. Factors such as ease and intimacy of routing, quality of feature shaping, natural setting and overall land plan, variety and memorability of par 3s and par 4s, and basic quality of conditioning, among others, are taken into consideration.

“We are honored to be recognized by Golfweek as one of the best courses in California,” said Brett Meabon, Director of Golf at Shadow Ridge Golf Club. “Our entire golf staff is committed to providing our guests with the ultimate desert golfing experience, while maintaining our status as one of the top resort courses in the region.”

The first Nick Faldo-designed Championship golf course in the U.S., Marriott’s Shadow Ridge Golf Club is located in the Coachella Valley and set against the beautiful backdrop of the snow-capped Santa Rosa Mountains in Palm Desert, Calif. This beautiful and peaceful valley is often referred to as the “golf capital of the world” because of its ideal playing conditions and abundance of courses. Shadow Ridge is also home to the acclaimed Faldo Golf Institute, offering instructional programs for golfers of all skill levels.
