(Hershey, Pa.) – For the fourth consecutive year, Hershey Links and the West Course at Hershey Country Club have been listed as two of the 10 Best Courses You Can Play in Pennsylvania by Golfweek magazine. The rankings appear in the March 11 issue of the magazine and can be seen online at www.Golfweek.com.
“It is truly an honor to have been included on Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play list for the fourth year,” said Ned Graff, director of golf for Hershey Golf Collection. “We strive to make golf in Hershey a memorable experience both on and off the course and to deliver the kind of service that has become synonymous with the Hershey name.”
To produce Golfweek’s Best Courses lists, an expert team of 675 course raters annually identifies the best layouts from two distinctly different eras: pre- and post-1960, representing modern and classic golf design, respectively. The raters surveyed more than 2,200 courses using Golfweek’s strict standards of evaluation, which include ease and intimacy of routing, integrity of design, quality of feature shaping, and natural setting and overall land planning. Collectively, Golfweek raters submitted more than 51,000 votes to create the 2011 Best Courses lists.
In addition to their inclusion in Golfweek, Hershey Links and the West Course at Hershey Country Club have received accolades from local and national golf publications. GolfStyles Philadelphia included Links on its list of the “Top 100 Must-Play Courses” from 2005 through 2009, and both sites were recognized in the 2009 Zagat Survey of America’s Top Golf Courses.
In June, Hershey Country Club will host the 44th annual Professional Golf Association (PGA) Professional National Championship, the showcase event for PGA Professionals. In 2012, the West Course at Hershey Country Club will serve as the site for the United States Golf Association (USGA) Senior Women’s Amateur Championship.
