Website and e-newsletter captures fans from Philadelphia, South Jersey and Delaware
(Philadelphia, PA) – MyPhillyGolf.com – a content-driven, golf-lifestyle website that covers the greater Philadelphia metro area – today announced it has struck a marketing partnership with GOLFWEEK Amateur Tour.
The GOLFWEEK Amateur Golf Tour, which provides amateurs the experience of competitive stroke-play golf, will host a 14 event local schedule during the 2011 season, including events in Philadelphia, South Jersey and Delaware.
“MyPhillyGolf.com is a perfect marketing partner because of the large, targeted group of avid golfers in the greater Philly metro area who visit the website,” says local GOLFWEEK Amateur Golf Tour Director Jeff A. Brodsky.
The GOLFWEEK Amateur Tour season opens April 30 at Metedeconk National GC and finishes on Oct. 2 at Philmont CC (North). The tour membership fee of $90 includes a 1-year GOLFWEEK magazine subscription, GOLFWEEK AGT logo cap, bag tag, and access to our complete nationwide schedule of over 600 golf tournaments, including the 14 being played on private and public golf courses in the Philadelphia Metro area.
Events are held on weekends, with the goal to provide fun, fast, competitive events with affordable pricing on the area’s best golf venues. Entry fees for the local events range from $85 to $225.00 for the single-day events. Those fees include cart and greens fees, range balls and prizes. There will be separate, sponsored par-3 (Closest To The Pin) contests and optional skins-games at each event. Scheduled practice rounds are available for every event.
The GOLFWEEK Amateur Tour is for amateurs of all ages and abilities. Members are placed in one of five flights based on handicaps. Flights are: Championship (0-3.9 handicap), A Flight (4-8.9), B Flight (9-13.9), C Flight (14-18.9) and D Flight (19 and over). Each tournament has the same format: gross stroke play, with USGA rules in effect. Winners in each handicap flight receive VISA gift cards, crystal trophies, and everyone in the tournament accumulates points towards qualification for our Tour Championship, played October 21 – 23 at the Palmetto Dunes Resort in Hilton Head, S.C.

About MyPhillyGolf.com
MyPhillyGolf.com was launched in conjunction with the Golf Association of Philadelphia (www.gapgolf.org), with the purpose to become the home of golf in Philadelphia, to provide golfers in the region information via which they can enhance their enjoyment of the game and interact with others who share their golf passions.
To that end, MyPhillyGolf.com covers local tournaments, golfers and courses (public and private); the national and international golf scene; Q&A’s with well-known “Golf People in the News”; and, posts first-person columns written about a variety of golf subjects, including trends, best practices, and more.
Editorial Director Joe Logan spent 35 years as a newspaper reporter and columnist, including 26 years at The Philadelphia Inquirer, the last 13 of which he was the golf writer. He covered the PGA, Champions and LPGA tours, serious amateur golf and the local golf scene. He is the author of “Playing a Round,” a collection of 81 area golf course reviews that first appeared in the Inquirer.
Logan has also written for Golf magazine, Golf World, Golfweek, Golf.com, the USGA and other golf websites and publications. Logan’s MyPhillyGolf.com partner Craig Ammerman is past president of the Golf Association of Philadelphia (1999-2002) and former member of the Executive Committee of the U.S. Golf Association (2002-2007).
