Norcross, GA – (April 5, 2011) Mizuno USA and Mizuno Canada are supporting the relief efforts of the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami by committing funds and product donations to the reconstruction projects of Japan. Several of Mizuno’s top Brand Ambassadors have also stepped up to support the cause, including PGA Tour Members Luke Donald and Jonathan Byrd.

Donald and Byrd will both be sporting red Mizuno headwear for the first round Thursday at Augusta National for the 2011 Masters, to show their support for Japan. Additionally, both players will be wearing matching red apparel through their sponsorship with Polo Golf.

The Mizuno headwear for both athletes will be auctioned off at a later date through eBay, to support the reconstruction of Japan. These items, along with several other game-used equipment products and memorabilia from Mizuno’s roster of Major League Baseball athletes, will be autographed and auctioned through the eBay donations pages. All proceeds will go directly to the Japan Relief Fund for GlobalGiving, a registered 501(c)3 organization that connects you to the causes and countries you care about. “The entire Mizuno family has been deeply affected by the tragedy that has occurred throughout Japan,” said Bob Puccini, President Mizuno USA, Inc. “We certainly appreciate the manner in which our athletes have shown concern as well as action to supporting the reconstruction efforts. We encourage everyone to join us in supporting the relief efforts of Japan through GlobalGiving and other fine charitable organizations.”

This effort follows a generous act from Mizuno Corporation of Japan, which donated 30 million yen (approximately $370,000 USD) to relief efforts, as well as over 20,000 articles of clothing and footwear. Mizuno USA and Mizuno Canada are matching employee cash donations to the American Red Cross, and have also contributed nearly $150,000 worth of apparel to Clothes4Souls.

Mizuno USA, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mizuno Corporation, one of the largest specialty sporting goods manufacturers in the world.
