NORTHBROOK, Ill., April 12, 2011 – McMillin Communities, a fully integrated real estate investment, land development and home-building company based in San Diego, Calif., today announced it has selected Northbrook, Ill.-based KemperSports to manage the Murder Rock Golf and Country Club in Branson, Mo. The 18-hole Murder Rock layout was designed by Landmark Land Company and Chris Cole and golf course architect Jeff Potts and is one of two 18-hole layouts in the Communities at Branson Creek Residential Community.
“We are excited to engage KemperSports to manage Murder Rock Golf and Country Club,” said Mark McMillin, President and CEO of McMillin. “Tim Mahoney, Division Manager of The Communities at Branson Creek and Chris Meade, General Manager and Head Golf Professional at Murder Rock are really looking forward to working with the KemperSports team. KemperSports has a proven track record of managing and marketing high-end golf facilities and its team will be instrumental in enabling us to achieve our goal of providing the best golf and member experience in the market.”
Murder Rock has received notable attention by the national golf scene after its 2007 opening by being recognized as the No. 4 Best You Can Play in Missouri and the No. 25 Best New Course by Golfweek Magazine which it received in 2010.
“Within a short time, Murder Rock has gained the reputation as a “must play” and as one of the top golf courses in the state of Missouri,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We are honored to add this course to our portfolio and have the opportunity to deliver an exceptional golf experience for our members and guests.”
Located amid the picturesque Ozark Mountains, the 18-hole championship golf course provides a challenge for every level of player as the par-71 layout ranges from 5,000 yards for beginners to more than 6,600 yards for low handicappers.
The first-class experience continues indoors where the expansive clubhouse includes a full-service restaurant and lounge as well as a well-appointed golf shop. Residents of Branson Creek through membership in the Homeowners Association enjoy additional amenities on the lower level of the clubhouse which include a members’ private bar, fitness center, family-friendly pool, men’s and women’s locker rooms and member bag storage.
Murder Rock represents KemperSports’ fourth managed property in the state of Missouri, including Shoal Creek Golf Course – ranked by Golfweek as the No. 2 Best You Can Play in the state.
