The eco-friendly golf purveyor adds the iconic course to its list of high profile retail locations
TEMPE, AZ April 12, 2011 – Dixon Golf balls are now available at the historic Torrey Pines Golf Course, in La Jolla, CA. The golf course started stocking the eco-friendly golf company’s custom logoed golf balls because of their commitment to the environment, and the high performance quality of the line of golf balls.
“We began carrying the Dixon Golf brand because everything is trending toward eco-friendly. The Dixon brand is a great option for our golfers because of their less harmful nature. I was also pleasantly surprised by the playability of the ball,” says Torrey Pines pro shop manager Justin Coxsey.
Torrey Pines began carrying the Dixon brand in March of this year, and sales have been brisk. It’s especially important for the coastal course to stock eco-friendly golf balls since so many of the balls lost on course end up in the Pacific Ocean.
“It’s important for us to be in any retail location, but especially so in an iconic place like Torrey Pines. It’s a great play for them, as well – they get a high performance golf ball, with the added benefit of being eco-friendly. They can show all the golfers that play their course that they are concerned with the environment, but also expect their products to be of the highest quality,” said VP of Sales for Dixon Golf David Markridge.
The course has been home to many PGA events, including the Farmers Insurance Open each January or February, and the 2008 US Open. The PGA events hosted by Torrey Pines makes it the most prestigious club selling the Dixon Golf brand.
Each ball has been logoed with the Torrey Pines logo; they sell for $12 per sleeve or $40 per dozen, and are available in the pro shop.
