California series will feature $15,000 first-place guarantees and a points race for free Q-School entry
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 18, 2011) – Gateway Pro Tour released its schedule for the 2011 California Series, and will kick things off with an 18-hole “Sponsorship Event” on May 23, 2011, at Morgan Run Club and Resort in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
The winner of this event will receive FREE entry into all six of the GPT’s 2011 California Series events this summer (a value of $8,250). Additionally, the top 30 percent of the field will be paid out, making this “Sponsorship Event” worth playing.
“We are very excited about our upcoming tournaments in California, and awarding someone free entry into six events is the perfect way to kick off the California Series,” said Ryan Pray, Executive Director of Gateway Pro Tour. “There are several gifted tournament players on the West Coast and this event provides those players with a significant opportunity.”
The entry fee for the GPT California Series Sponsorship Event is $350, and is open to members and non-members. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and entries will be accepted through Wednesday, May 18. Players can register online at www.gatewayprotour.com.
“We have a solid schedule lined up for the California Series and great player incentives,” Pray said. “I encourage all of our current players to participate and invite those who haven’t played with us to come get a taste of what the Gateway Pro Tour is all about.”
The California Series will get going with a 54-hole tournament at Cross Creek Golf Club in Temecula, Calif., June 29 – July 1. It will feature a total of six events played in the Greater San Diego area, with first place guarantees of $15,000 for all six tournaments.
GPT officials also announced today that it will feature TWO Q-School Challenges, an aggregate “Points Race” held during tournaments 1-3 AND tournaments 4-6 that will award the Top finisher in each respective “Points Race” FREE paid entry to 2011 Q-School.
