Spurred by major enhancements program at former Poplar Creek Country Club
(HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL) – A result of a major enhancements program at the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club, bookings of golf outings and special events are at a record pace.
Open to the public, golfers and non-golfers rave about the 15 holes on the championship golf course which underwent renovation as well as the vastly expanded golf learning and practice center.
The clubhouse also received an extensive facelift, now boasting a contemporary ambiance. The main banquet room that holds more than 300 guests features new carpet, wallpaper, lighting, paint, ceiling construction, bathroom upgrades and a dance floor.
A new, 8,200-square-foot event area with a majestic gazebo and waterfall makes for aesthetically-exceptional weddings and other special occasions.
“Our seasoned staff ensures personable, red-carpet service and keen attention to detail,” says Brian Bechtold, General Manager at Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club. “We receive a lot of referrals; this is an excellent sign our facilities and event production impress event coordinators and their guests.”
Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club is extremely popular for weddings, as well as parties celebrating engagements, Bar Mitzvahs, Sweet 16s, retirements, reunions, bridal and baby showers, and holidays.
Business meetings, seminars and conferences are professionally executed with WiFi, screens, LCD projectors and other accoutrements. Large, mid-size and small companies range in style from formal to BBQ fare.
Formerly Poplar Creek Country Club, the addition of “Bridges” to the club moniker aligns with eight, new wood bridges along the 6,500-yard course. Plaques honoring professional golf legends Bobby Jones, Chick Evans, Samuel Ryder and Babe Zaharias will adorn bridges with capsules about their significant contributions to the game. They symbolize linkage of the club’s storied past, present and future.
Nine holes on the golf course opened for 18-hole rounds last month. All 18 holes will open in early June.
The course renovation has given birth to “The Final Charge.” This refers to extremely stout holes 16, 17 and 18, which are routed in the shape of a lightning bolt. Golfers refer to them as “the best ‘tri-fecta’ of finishing holes in Illinois,” says Bechtold.
The addition of multiple tee boxes gives renewed appeal to better golfers seeking added length and new golfers seeking shorter distances. Re-configured fairways and bunkers, the addition of fescue on many holes for depth and definition, and new lakes make for challenging yet fair land-water hazards.
Lohmann Golf Design led the modernization of the 35-year-old course, preserving the classic Killian-Nugent layout while enhancing strategic shot values for golfers. Floods which occasionally plagued fairways after heavy rains will no longer occur.
