PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The Northern California Section of the PGA is pleased to announce that PGA Director of Instruction Jerrel Grow (Carmichael, CA) of Performance Golf Academy at Morgan Creek Golf & Country Club and The Bridges Golf Club defeated PGA Director of Golf Instruction Rick Leibovich (Salinas, CA) of Tehama Golf Club today during the final round match at Pebble Beach Golf Links, claiming title to the 2011 NCPGA Match Play Championship. Grow won 3&2 in the final round at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, CA. The semifinal round was also played today in Pebble Beach, CA at Cypress Point Club.
Each match was tough, which is really a testament to how many good players there are in this section,” said Grow, following his win. “The players in this week’s tournament teach and work full time, so I have a greater appreciation that they can play and compete at the high level that they do.”
Grow had an impressive semifinal round win with one eagle and four birdies to come in 5 under par, despite that he and Mick Soli (San Carlos, CA) of the Links at Mariners Point played 21 holes to complete the round. A PGA member since 2004, Grow grew up in Hollister and now lives in Carmichael near Sacramento.
