COLUMBUS, GA, April, 20, 2011 — Roy Nix, Executive Director of the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP), the world leader in the advancement of custom clubfitting and clubmaking is pleased to announce a terrific schedule plan for the 6th Annual AGCP Convention and Education Expo. Although the full schedule is not complete yet, the early announcement of the proposed schedule is because we have again expanded our schedule and added some excellent speakers and classes for clubfitters and clubmakers to get excited about. Some may want to expand their stay and take in more of the events. As we grow we are forced by demand to expand our schedule and many are going to have to make decisions about how long they can be here for our events.
Thursday will be an entire day on stage with the FlightScope fitting members from the class. The AGCP selections by Golf Digest as Best 100 Clubfitters in America, the AGCP Master Fitters and Eric Hogge, head Professional at the PGA Center for Education and Learning will be on hand to assist the members and fit them on the fly. This will be a tremendous opportunity to learn how the best in America use the FlightScope and fit golfers for better equipment.
In addition “We’ve confirmed that Mike McFadden will be here as an Instructor RT6. We are extremely pleased to have Mike share his extensive knowledge of the golf swing and fitting techniques with us, Tom Wishonlabeled Mike the prototype for the modern PGA Professional because of Mike’s ability to work on both the teaching side of the profession and the fitting side of the profession” Nix added.
You are going to learn a lot about the golf swing and fitting at RT6. In keeping with the growing desire to increase the club fitters knowledge of how the golf swing works and how it affects the fit, the AGCP is proud to have added yet another PGA Professional to the program. Mike McFadden, an AGCP international member, will share his 30 years and 25,000 hours of lesson experience in a long session on analyzing and correcting the most common swing faults for golfers of all levels of ability. Mike’s Company, True Custom Fitting, is responsible for teaching all PGA of Germany apprentices basic workbench skills as well as holding yearly workshops on Fitting and Technique for fully qualified professionals. “My primary goal is to improve ball flight, in order to do this we must improve impact. This can be done by either changing something in the swing or by changing something in the equipment. You hit the Grand Slam when you know how to combine the two.” said McFadden. Everybody can learn something from his understanding of how equipment affects motion and how the golf swing influences equipment. Mike’s long line of teaching credentials include coaching at a national team training center for seven years, he was nominated 3 times for Teacher of the Year, he is included in Golf Magazines top 50 teachers in Germany, he is also a founding member of the education and examination board for the PGA of Germany as well as speaker at a number of seminars for teaching professionals. If you are interested in a simple approach to understanding cause and effect, or knowing when to teach and when to fit, you will not want to miss Mike’s presentation. Mike’s junior team won the National Championship in 2001 and his High School team is three time National Champions. His students range from absolute beginners to Challenge Tour Winners and Junior Ryder Cup players. “I feel honored and privileged to have the opportunity to share my experience with such a great group of passionate golfers and club fitters as the members of the AGCP” added McFadden.
The RT6 working schedule is listed below. This is where we plan to be but some changes may be made between now and October.
Tuesday
Early arrivals will be treated once again to Bill Marshall’s Supper. Bill puts on one heck of a feed for everyone here, usually at the 12th Street Deli. Bill’s Jambalaya is the main dish with more and more members now chipping in with covered dishes of their own. Last year the host brought in some BBQ or Pulled Pork and other side dishes are available. Beverages are usually plentiful and many members bring their own favorite beverage as well as several sponsors contributing some fine refreshments. All in all it’s a great festive atmosphere and members enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship as well as the food and drink.

8 am – Welcome to RT6, Introduction of Golf Digest Best 100 Clubfitters, Introduction of today’s speakers and itinerary.
9 am – John Taylor, a Level 10 AGCP member, will present how the K-Vest 3D motion capture system measures the kinematic sequence of a golf swing and how it can be used in clubfitting. K-Vest wireless inertial sensors uncover movement patterns in a swing that are missed by other methods. The timing and acceleration sequence by which the hips, upper body, and hands transfer rotational energy through the swing to the club are measured. The kinematic sequence is a golfer’s swing signature. It shows how speed and power are generated in the swing, and it reveals movement variations that affect swing efficiency. K-Vest biofeedback, comparative swing analysis, and integration with video expand the system’s capabilities and can be used in clubfitting to show how the swing and the club interact. John Taylor (jtclubs) has an advanced level 2 certification from K-Vest and he is Titliest Performance Institute (TPI) certified level 2 in Golf Biomechanics, Golf Professional, Golf Fitness, and Junior Coach. JT Custom Golf Clubs LLC.
