Additional amenities enhances Resorts at Tullymore & St. Ives
STANWOOD – The Resorts of Tullymore & St. Ives, Michigan’s fastest growing residential golf resort community, is kicking off the 2011 season with even more amenities for guests with the introduction of the new Lodge at Tullymore, and a significant renovation of the Inn at St. Ives.
Ten bedrooms, each with matching bath in the new lodge, are designed to comfortably accommodate groups of up to 20 persons for golf outings or business meetings or both.
“Its perfect for golfers, it’s perfect for corporate meetings because the large common room is set up with high tech wireless and flat screen televisions on the walls that can be used for presentations. The meeting space that can just as easily be used for recreation,” said Terry Schieber, the resort’s chief executive officer. “It’s set up like a miniature hotel with meeting space, and for golfers it can also be a mini sports bar.”
Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, a pool table and poker tables, patio with a hot tub, and two queen size beds in each room. Couples and smaller groups can also reserve rooms. The Lodge is on a private cul-de-sac just past the resort’s Residence Club which overlooks the 18th fairway.
“The response has been very good with some early bookings and the lodge should be a very popular addition to the resort,” Schieber said.
Visitors will also appreciate the changes at the Inn at St. Ives where the ground floor has been renovated and now offers a refurbished lobby, a bar, and a small boardroom.
“Having a neat little bar on the premises will make the inn more convenient for guests who might want to relax with a night cap or visit with friends,” Schieber said. The inn offers 35 guestrooms that vary from one and two bedroom king, or queen standard suites, to more luxurious models equipped with Jacuzzi tubs. The inn is a short walk from the St. Ives clubhouse.
The lodge and the renovation of the Inn at St. Ives is the latest capital investment by the family ownership group who have spent more than $50 million in the past three years transforming the two adjoining golf clubs in Mecosta County into a stunning, upscale golf resort and residential community.
Schieber, who took over management of the resort in January, listed several other changes he expects will enhance Tullymore’s focus on maximizing the resort’s potential and one of the Midwest’s top golf attractions.
“We added a new banquet room at the Tullymore club house that has doubled the space we can utilize there,” he said. In an effort to make the resort more user friendly, a new system has been installed that allows guests to check in at either the Tullymore side or at St. Ives. First time visitors will be offered the service of a host to escort them to their lodging.
Another user-friendly upgrade allows guests to now charge anything they purchase to their room bill. All rooms, including those in homes and condominiums in the rental program, will be serviced each day by the resort’s own housekeeping staff, Schieber said. Coffee pots and supplies are also standard in all lodging areas.
The 800 acres surrounding the Tullymore course has been laid out as distinct residential villages with elegant models of custom-built single family homes, condominiums, and an ultra-luxury Residence Club. The villas in the Residence Club offer fractional ownerships of units that allow its owners to vacation at similar clubs in the Registry Collection in resorts around the world.
Tullymore’s magnificent $7 million stone and glass clubhouse, designed by the Archiventure Group of Denver, was selected by Golf Inc. magazine as the country’s best clubhouse for a public or daily fee course when it opened two years ago.
The Tullymore course, designed by nationally acclaimed architect Jim Engh of Colorado, has collected numerous awards. It was chosen as best golf resort in Michigan by Golf World magazine, and is ranked No. 15 on Golf Digest magazine’s list of the Top 100 public and resort courses in America.
The St. Ives course was designed by Jerry Matthews and won numerous state and national awards when it opened in 1995. The recently refurbished St. Ives clubhouse is a year-round sports bar and restaurant.
