May 3, 2011 – Birmingham, AL – In an effort to support the Alabama residents affected by the deadly tornados that tore through the South, Honours Golf has started a Tee Off for Tornado Relief Fund. This relief fund gives golfers an opportunity to help support tornado survivors and assist local chapters of the American Red Cross.
“Having experienced our own plight in the aftermath of the oil spill last year and in past hurricanes, our team was especially moved to help the survivors of such a horrific natural disaster,” said Bob Barrett, chief executive officer of Honours Golf. “We hope that our contributions will help make a difference in the lives of the people in the storm ravaged communities.”
Effective today, each Honours Golf owned and managed golf course located in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida will be accepting donations for the Tee Off for Tornado Relief Fund. Individuals may give any size donation and in return, Honours Golf will match the contribution. All monies generated will be sent to local chapters of the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross is one of many organizations assisting tornado survivors across the South. Red Cross volunteers have come to Alabama from around the country to help provide shelter, meals, and emotional support, as well as assist with the clean-up and recovery in the affected areas.
