Company will donate 5% of May golf vacation sales to local charity groups for direct relief to victims in Alabama.
Birmingham, Alabama – GolfThere.com, the consumer-direct subsidiary of Fairways Golf Vacations, Inc. (Fairways Golf), announced that it would launch a charitable campaign to bring awareness to the severely impacted tornado areas in Alabama beginning today. The company will contribute 5% of golf vacation sales during the month of May to local “on the ground” charities in its home state of Alabama. GolfThere wants to specifically target its support for local non-profits and churches who have been working tirelessly to help thousands of Alabamians in tornado ravaged areas throughout the state.
GolfThere.com CEO, Alan Hale said: “First, our thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims as they begin to recover and rebuild from this tragedy. However, these words seem hollow when you actually see how last week’s tornados were devastating for so many. Our entire team wants to do more than offer words of comfort, since none of our staff lost a home, property, or a loved one. The national media’s video and photography really doesn’t capture how truly horrific the damage is. While many of our team have volunteered to help after-hours, all of us want to help at work by reaching out to our loyal customers who have been asking if we were okay and how they can help. Many of our customers have told us that they have given to national organizations and we encourage them to continue to do so. During the entire month of May, GolfThere has decided to donate 5% of sales directly to non-profits and churches here locally that have been instrumental in distributing and providing assistance to the disaster victims.”
The company also stated that GolfThere.com golf vacation specialists will ask all customers during the month of May if they would like to match the company’s 5% donation to local charities or to donate to some of the national relief efforts through the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army. GolfThere.com will then collect and send donated funds directly to the local charities and churches in the hardest hit areas of Alabama.
Hale continued, “We are so grateful at the outpouring of support and genuine concern by customers throughout the USA and frankly, world-wide. It is heart-warming how many have talked with our team and expressed a willingness to help. We hope that they will indeed follow through on their pledge and assist us to donate cash contributions in the weeks ahead.”
