New York, NY – May 5, 2011 – The Family Golf Challenge, a new skills challenge for families, will “tee-off” in the New York metropolitan area this month with two weekends of events at Mosholu Golf Course in the Bronx, May 14-15 and May 21-22.
Ten local launch events are planned for the Northeast in the spring and summer.
The Family Golf Challenge is an amateur skills competition, featuring a putting and long-drive competition, designed to introduce more women and children to the sport of golf. With a strategic focus on providing families with a sports and leisure-time activity that brings the family together, the event also gets them involved in a charitable cause. The First Tee of Metropolitan New York charity has been designated the Event Beneficiary; Golf Digest and the Metropolitan Golf Association are Strategic Marketing Partners.
Two-person teams comprised of family members can register for participation online at www.familygolfchallenge.com. The entry fee is $15 per team / challenge with $5 going to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York. Winners of the 10 local events will compete in a regional playoff to be scheduled during September.
