SAN DIEGO, CA – May 10, 2011 – Graphite Design, maker of some of the most widely played premium golf shafts on the PGA TOUR, announces its newly introduced G shaft was used by the third place finisher at the PGA Wells Fargo Championship.
The new G series shaft is the next generation of premium Graphite Design shafts and is very adaptable to today’s new head technology. As with all Graphite Design shafts, the G series shaft technology is derived from years of research and development designed to produce consistency and stability and deliver outstanding performance benefits.
“We already have five G 60 shafts in play on the PGA Tour after only four weeks and we are thrilled that the third place finisher at the Wells Fargo Championship has chosen to play this next generation of Graphite Design shafts,” commented Tak Yamada, VP of Sales & Marketing, Graphite Design. “This immediate level of interest in the G series is a direct result of the technology and performance characteristics that went into the design of this shaft. We look forward to continued success with the G series shaft on all Tours.”
The third place finisher of the Wells Fargo Championship shot a 14-under 274 to earn his third top ten finish for 2011. He played the Graphite Design Tour AD G 60 shaft in his driver. In addition to the top finish on the PGA Tour, the winner of the OneAsia Tour GS Caltrex Maekyung Open played a Graphite Design Tour AD EV 6 shaft in his driver.
The G series performance characteristics favor a low to mid launch trajectory and mid ball spin. The new X Directional Technology – XDT – incorporates the use of the already proven Graphite Design MSI (Material Stiffness Integration) design method as well as this new and unique application of graphite fiber alignment throughout the shaft structure. During the development phase of XDT, measurable performance gains were discovered through a more balanced distribution of the graphite fibers within the plies of the shaft design. This proprietary application of XDT has made the new G series the most balanced, versatile high performance golf shaft available today.
The new G series shaft are available in four weights: 40 gram (Lite, Regular and Stiff flexes); 50 gram (Lite, Regular and Stiff flexes); 60 gram (Regular, Stiff and X-Stiff flexes); and 70 gram (Stiff and X-Stiff flexes). The G series products will be available beginning June 1, 2011 and will have an MSRP of $199.00.
