Event will pledge percentage of donations to Heart of Missouri United Way through May 30
CHICAGO – May 25, 2011 – Illinois Patriot Education Fund (IPEF) announced today that it will donate a portion of all donations received through Memorial Day (Monday May 30) to assist the victims of the recent tornado with desperately needed funds during emergency relief efforts.
“Like millions of Americans our hearts go out to the thousands of Joplin residents affected by the recent tornado, especially those who lost loved ones in this tragedy,” said Mark Slaby, founder and interim executive director of Illinois Patriot Education Fund. “During Memorial Day weekend we certainly want people to remember our military families and the tremendous sacrifices they have made in service to our country. And while our minds are also with Joplin residents during their time of need we’re hoping we can combine the two causes and double the efforts for those who want to help.”
Starting May 25 and continuing through midnight on Monday, May 30, IPEF has pledged to match five percent of all donations made to Illinois Patriot Education Fund or its hallmark fund raiser, Medinah Patriot Day, to Heart of Missouri United Way, which has established a fund specifically for the victims of the Joplin tornado.
The second annual Medinah Patriot Day event, taking place July 7 at Medinah Country Club, site of the 2012 Ryder Cup, will be a golf, entertainment and networking experience highlighted by an evening dinner gala featuring entertainment by legendary comic Tom Dreesen. A limited number of foursomes and corporate sponsorships are still available as well as individual dinner seats and corporate dinner tables of 10. To register for the event or for more information visit www.medinahpatriotday.com. All donations made through May 30 in conjunction with the event will qualify for the five percent donation to the Joplin tornado relief effort.
For those not available to attend Medinah Patriot Day, IPEF has launched a texting donation tool which also allows for cash donations. Donors can simply text “Patriot” to 48510 or go to www.obopay.com/patriot to donate by credit card.
IPEF receives 100 percent of its funding through individual and corporate donations via its website and at its fundraising events, including Medinah Patriot Day and Bets for Vets™, and is currently seeking corporations and individuals interested in making a difference in the lives of military families and children by becoming volunteers and corporate sponsors to join its roster of 2011 Financial Sponsors and Goodwill Partners.
