White Plains, NY – (May 26, 2011) – Metropolis Country Club has been recognized by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association (MGWA) as the 2011 Club of the Year. This award is presented annually to a Metropolitan Area club for upholding the spirit and traditions of golf through energetic support and consistent dedication to the game.
Metropolis was established in 1922, with its original 18 holes designed by Herbert Strong and later enhanced by noted architect A. W. Tillinghast. The staff of golf and teaching professionals is among the most talented and competitive in the Metropolitan area.
“Metropolis and its members are proud to be recognized by the Met Golf Writers Association,” said Dr. James Reiffel, President. “The club is committed to continued excellence and growing the game through junior programs and competitive playing opportunities.”
