Science & Motion Sports today congratulated both the USGA and the PGA of America for their “Tee It Forward” program announcement Tuesday. The Tee It Forward program is the brain child of forward thinking industry expert Barney Adams and brings golfers to the appropriate tees for the length of their average drive.
A chart on the USGA web site indicates a golfer with an average drive of 250 yards should be playing tees from 6200-6400 yards. See the chart at http://www.playgolfamerica.com/index.cfm?action=teeitforward .
Science & Motion spokesman Jef Carr said, “We’ve recognized that playing the game to a higher level is what brings golfers back for more. We can also surmise that demands on players time is a very big factor in the number of rounds played. Bringing the amateur golfer back into what could be called ‘the real world’ is a very big story and should be recognized as a major initiative put forward by both the USGA and PGA of America. Playing the game to the best of your ability doesn’t mean competing on tour length setups to prove your ability. Enjoyment of the game and shorter duration rounds are very important for the growth of the game.”
Carr went on to add, “We encourage each and every PGA Member to embrace the Tee It Forward initiative, and every golf instructor to become more focused on putting instruction, so they can help their students to become the best golfers they can be. We’ve seen a new focus on putting at the PGA Tour level also with the latest statistic, Strokes Gained – Putting, and hope this trend coupled with Play It Forward will help golfers to become more realistic in their expectations. The SAM team believes a focus on a golfers putting game can yield the fastest reduction in handicap strokes in the least amount of time. SAM PuttLab is the equipment golf instructors need to help golfers to reach new levels of success in their games. Our SAM Certified Putting Instructor program equips instructors to help their students to understand the cause and effect of putting and to use our SAM PuttLab to greatest benefit.”
