ORLANDO, Fla. (June 1, 2011) – Some of British Columbia’s most popular and highly respected golf courses have joined the GolfNow.com network to market their facilities and tee times on the Internet’s largest online tee time reservation service. GolfNow, which is powered by Golf Channel, officially launches today across British Columbia with 20 courses participating.
Chateau Whistler Golf Club, the highly acclaimed Robert Trent Jones Jr. design carved out of the slopes of the Coast Mountain range; The Rise, a Fred Couples signature course that sits atop the Okanagan Valley in Vernon, BC; and Wildstone Golf Course, Canada’s only Gary Player design, which recently opened in Cranbrook, are among the first BC courses to join GolfNow.
More than 3,100 public, private, resort and municipal facilities across the U.S., Canada and Ireland are part of the GolfNow network.
In addition to the initial group of participating courses, a number of other BC courses have expressed interest in the service and are expected to join, according to Fintan O’Connell, the market sales manager for GolfNow in British Columbia.
“Course operators love the exposure that Golf Channel provides them,” said O’Connell. “They’ve seen the success of the program in the U.S. and Ontario and see this is an opportunity to sell additional rounds in peak and off-peak times.” O’Connell also cited research conducted by the National Golf Foundation in the U.S. that showed golfers using the GolfNow service are playing more often and expanding the number of courses they play.
O’Connell said he expects the service will gain popularity quickly with British Columbia’s more than 800,000 golfers. “GolfNow makes it easy to find a great course that fits your schedule and budget.”
In 2010, golfers booked 4.9 million rounds through the GolfNow.com site at participating courses.
