New York, NY – June 1, 2011 – The Family Golf Challenge, a new skills challenge for families, will be staged at the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth, New Jersey this weekend. Two-person teams comprised of Adults and Juniors will compete in Long Drive and Putting Challenges: winners in 12 separate categories will advance to a regional playoff in September. Ten local events are planned for the Northeast this summer.
The Family Golf Challenge is an amateur skills competition designed to introduce more women and children to the sport of golf. With a strategic focus on providing families with a sports and leisure-time activity that brings the family together, the event also gets them involved in a charitable cause. The First Tee of Metropolitan New York charity has been designated the Event Beneficiary for the first 10 events; Golf Digest and the Metropolitan Golf Association are Strategic Marketing Partners.
Teams comprised of family members (Aunts, Uncles & Grandparents welcome) can pre-register for participation online at www.familygolfchallenge.com. The entry fee is $15.00 per team /challenge with $5.00 being donated to The First Tee. All teams that pre-register or “walk-up” to participate will receive a free $10.00 Golfsmith Card.
