(CEDAR PARK, TX) – Representatives of Styx Capital, the leading provider of brand-name golf club rental sets to golf facilities, will conduct “Equipment Financing 101” education seminars at several PGA Section meetings this summer.
During the Styx tutorials, PGA members will be exposed to situational benefits and drawbacks of owning versus leasing, creative payment programs, tips to negotiate added value from vendors, and other financing tools.
Timing of the seminars coincides with course operators increasingly seeking alternative ways to streamline expenses and grow revenues without compromising quality.
Traditionally, course owners relied on financing exclusively for real estate, golf carts and heavy equipment. Nowadays, as the seminars will cover, there are benefits to financing often overlooked investments like teaching centers, fitting systems launch monitors, computer systems, GPS and golf-club rental sets
PGA Sections interested in scheduling a Styx representative to conduct equipment seminars should call 877.444.STYX (7899). PGA members who participate are eligible for MSR points.
“Balance sheet gains are often credited to better equipment financing,” says Chris Couture, COO of Styx Capital. “It’s critical for golf-course operators to learn best practices.”
About Styx Capital
Hundreds of golf courses, country clubs and resorts nationwide, including Cabo del Sol, Reynolds Plantation, Poipu Bay and Oakmont, profit from Styx’s golf-club rental management program.
Through Styx, courses obtain complete and mix-and-match sets of current-model clubs from Callaway, Cobra, Nike, TaylorMade, Titleist and others. This allows golfers to “demo” the latest equipment and, in turn, buy same-model clubs from pro shops. New rental clubs also result in more inventory turns and increased usage fees.
Styx swaps rental sets for courses seasonally, every 12 months for those with year-round play, or upon release of new manufacturer models. Monthly billing aligns with courses’ unique golf seasons to match their cash flows. Styx buys courses’ outdated and worn-out clubs.
Most courses recognize the value of high-end rentals. However, due to cost, many keep their rental clubs too long or use mismatched sets. Others ineffectively use cash and other purchase-commitment incentives from vendors to acquire rental set inventories. With the Styx program, courses can use their cash and incentives for alternative purposes.

Since 2003, Styx has provided roughly 4,500 sets, projects rotating 20,000 clubs in 2011 and enjoys strong relationships with golf-club manufacturers. The company also finances turf equipment, golf carts, fitting systems and other assets.
