Prestigious event enables young people to pursue higher education, expand their horizons
& fulfill their dreams; proceeds support New York’s Mount Vernon High School, Make-a-Wish Foundation® of the Hudson Valley and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Research Center
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y., June 7, 2011…DGC Capital Contracting Corporation, one of the Northeast’s premier construction, general contracting and carpentry firms, today announced the Company will host the 16th Annual Fulfilling a Dream Fund Charity Golf Outing, on Tuesday, June 21, at Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, N.Y.
The Fulfilling a Dream Fund (FADF), a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1995 by DGC’s President, Gerry Ryan, conducts this event for the benefit of young people who, because of life circumstances, have limited financial ability to pursue higher education, expand their horizons and fulfill their lifelong dreams. Primarily, the Fulfilling a Dream Fund focuses on the educational support of promising high school students in Mount Vernon, as well as children who face debilitating illnesses.
Proceeds raised from the 2011 golf outing encompass three distinct charitable endeavors, including the funding of two, four-year scholarships for promising graduates of New York’s Mount Vernon High School seeking to pursue a college education. Equally important, FADF’s goal with this annual showcase event is an unwavering commitment to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Hudson Valley, a truly worthy organization that provides an opportunity for children who face the difficult challenges of life-threatening illnesses, to have a special dream come true. The FADF also maintains unmatched dedication to the acclaimed St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Research Center, whose mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.
“So much good comes from one special day and thanks to the generosity of those participating in this annual golf outing, we are able to provide scholarships to talented, deserving college-bound students, as well as support the efforts of two amazing organizations committed to children who face the toughest of life circumstances,” said Gerry Ryan, President, DGC. “In 2010 alone, proceeds from this event not only funded two, four-year scholarships, but were able to sponsor a full-wish for a special child thanks to Make-A-Wish, as well as make a generous contribution to support the unmatched research efforts at St. Jude Children’s Hospital.”
Ryan adds, “Everyone associated with the Fulfilling a Dream Fund, from our golf outing participants, to our sponsors and volunteers, is privileged to be associated with this annual event, and we are committed to making it bigger and better every year.”
The 2011 Fulfilling a Dream Fund golf outing, in addition to a spectacular day of golf at the prestigious Knollwood Country Club, is capped by an evening of fine food, drinks and entertainment. This year, the FADF will offer participants a surprise guest speaker, a grand prize raffle and a special activity for everyone to enjoy.
