Players using oversized grip technology earn three top 5’s, four top 10’s
Ten professional golfers played SuperStroke and Tiger Shark jumbo grip technology this week on the PGA and Champions tours, leading the grips to six Top 25 finishes and the #1 most played oversized putter grip rankings at both events.
At the Principal Charity Classic on the Champions Tour, SuperStroke grips finished T3, T3 and T5 in the hands of the 2009 Allianz Championship winner and the current #11 and #14 ranked players in the Charles Schwab Cup point standings.
In his first event using a SuperStroke Slim Lite, the former University of North Carolina Tar Heel ranked 3rd in Putts Per GIR and earned his first Top 10 of 2011. The other player to finish in the Top 3, the 2010 AT&T Championship winner, ranked 4th in Putts Per Round. The 5th place finisher at the Principal Charity Classic has now earned 18 Top 25 finishes with SuperStroke technology since first putting it into play in June of last year. The 4-time Ryder Cup Team USA member ranked T11th in Putts Per Round using a Fatso Lite grip. Two other new players using the Slim Lite grip finished in the Top 25 in putting at the event.
At the Memorial Tournament on the PGA Tour, players using SuperStroke and Tiger Shark grips finished T7, T22 and T22. The player in the Top 10 used a SuperStroke Slim Lite grip for the first time this week and turned in his best finish of the year. A longtime Tiger Shark UltraTac grip user also had his best finish of the year at the Memorial, finishing T22.
SuperStroke staff professional KJ Choi finished 22nd at the Memorial for his seventh Top 25 finish of 2011 with a SuperStroke Fatso grip. Choi ranks 7th in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup standings after winning THE PLAYERS Championship last month, his 4th PGA Tour victory with the SuperStroke grip that measures 1.67 inches in diameter. Another SuperStroke staff professional and Fatso Lite user Matt Bettencourt finished T20th in Putts Per GIR at the Memorial.
Since the start of the 2010 season on the PGA, Champions, Nationwide, LPGA and European/Asian tours, SuperStroke and Tiger Shark putter grips combined for four victories, 45 Top 10 finishes and 69 Top 25 finishes. SuperStroke and Tiger Shark oversized grips have earned ten victories on the PGA Tours.
