Cranbrook, British Columbia – Black Knight Design, a brand of Gary Player Design, celebrated the grand opening of Wildstone Golf Course, the first ever Black Knight project in Canada.
“Wildstone really is spectacular, with dramatic elevation changes and wonderful views of the Canadian Rockies. It’s a bit hard to concentrate on golf when the beautiful Fisher Peak is towering over you. Congratulations to Cranbrook on this nice addition to their community and to Coast to Coast Development for their dedication to this project,” said Scott Ferrell, President of Gary Player Design. “Our mission is to change as many Canadians as possible from hockey to golf fans,” he joked.
“We’re excited to unveil this golf course,” said Wildstone GM Chris Andrews. “It’s majestic. It’s a nice layout on a beautiful piece of property on the rolling highlands of Cranbrook. “It just captures the scenery. You come around a corner and a mountain range is thrust into your face.”
“This is one of the most beautiful sites we have ever worked with,” said Jeff Lawrence Gary Player Design’s lead designer on the project. “The natural characteristics of the land really add to the design and set Wildstone apart from the other golf courses in the region. It is extremely playable for all levels of golfer and if you want a challenge the Championship tees definitely provide it. The course will play over 7,100 yards from the back tees so bring your driver,” he added.
“The layout is very walkable,” Andrews said. “Given that, you might think it would be a pushover, but it’s not. When you see the course, you’ll understand why we think it’s an exceptional layout.”
Wildstone is located in southeastern British Columbia, Canada. Nestled among the Canadian Rocky Mountains the area is considered to be one of the most beautiful in all of Canada. Proof of that fact was National Geographic magazine’s dubbing of the area as the ‘Crown of the Continent’ citing the incredible views, its four season climate and the fact that it is the sunniest place in British Columbia.
