SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (June 17, 2011) – With the completion of all 18 Arizona Series events coming to a close this week, Gateway Pro Tour turns its attention to its upcoming California Series.
In May, Gateway Pro Tour announced its partnership with Golden State Golf Tour, aligning the two developmental golf tours for a six-tournament summer schedule that will be played throughout the greater San Diego area and will feature first-place guarantees of $15,000 and TWO Q-School Challenges, an aggregate “Points Race” held during tournaments 1-3 AND tournaments 4-6 that will award the top cumulative finisher in each respective “Points Race” FREE paid entry to 2011 Q-School ($4,500 value).
“Our ultimate goal is to provide players with first class competitive golf tournaments on the West Coast, and Gateway Pro Tour and Golden State Tour have joined forces to create that environment,” said Ryan Pray, Executive Director of Gateway Pro Tour. “Both tours have the experience, knowledge and background to serve players in the best way possible, which makes this partnership a perfect match from our perspective.”
The California Series will get things started with its first 54-hole tournament at Cross Creek Golf Club in Temecula, Calif., June 29 – July 1. The tournament is open to members and non-members. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and entry for this event is due Monday, June 20. Entries will continue to be accepted through Friday, June 24, but a late fee will apply. Players can register online at www.gatewayprotour.com.
After Cross Creek GC, the California Series tees it up again at Arrowood GC in Oceanside, Calif. July 6 – 8, followed by an event at the Golf Club at Rancho California July 13 – 15. The Series will then take a two week break before concluding with back-to-back tournaments at Carlton Oaks CC (Santee, Calif.), Sycuan Resort (El Cajon, Calif.) and Temecula Creek (Temecula, Calif.). The Q-School bonuses, guaranteed payouts, and fine schedule of challenging courses are certainly all appealing reasons to play Gateway Pro Tour this summer.
