Iron clinics and fittings designed to make sure golfers are armed with proper equipment; golfers are also invited to tune-up their game with free swing analysis and other in-store service offerings
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla., June 22, 2011…Edwin Watts Golf Shops (EWGS), one of the world’s largest specialty golf retailers with over 90 locations, has announced that “irons” will be the theme of a chain-wide tune-up day, scheduled for Saturday, June 25. As part of the specialty retailers’ monthly tune-up series, golfers can visit any of the 90+ locations to participate in iron fitting clinics and more.
Highlighting the tune-up day will be great deals on the newest iron sets from leading manufacturers such as Callaway, Cleveland, TaylorMade, Adams, Wilson, Nike and more. As today’s irons are classified into three distinct categories, Blade-style (for low-handicap golfers), game-improvement (for mid-handicappers), and super game-improvement (for high-handicappers), associates from Edwin Watts Golf will be available at each location to help outfit all customers with the proper equipment that matches their unique swing characteristics. Blade-style irons allow a better player to work the ball more, while game-improvement and super game-improvement clubs are more forgiving on off-center hits.
The “iron” tune-up day, which comes on the heels of the May “short game/wedge play” themed clinic and the April “putting” clinic, is part of Edwin Watts Golf’s tune-up series that was created to make the 2011 golf season one of true game improvement, while offering a new theme each month that covers an important aspect of the game. Golfers of all ages and skill levels are invited to visit a local store and participate in interactive activities such as swing analysis, performance club fitting sessions and much more.
“We created our tune-up series to ensure that golfers of all skill levels are armed with the proper equipment so that they play their best,” said John Watson, CEO, Edwin Watts Golf Shops. “Irons should match one another, as should their shafts, so a golfer can experience the most consistent feel, performance and distance gapping from one to the next.”
At each event, the Company’s expert staff, boasting the highest technical IQ in golf, will greet customers with unique promotions and service offerings, ensuring all golfers are well-equipped for the season. Representatives from leading equipment manufacturers and local PGA Professionals will be on-site to participate in these one-day events, as golfers can have their equipment tuned-up, participate in clinics & swing analysis, experience free performance club fitting sessions and other in-store service offerings. As part of the festivities, all participants can register to win valuable prizes, including clubs, balls, bags and much more.
The chain-wide tune-up day initiative is complemented by Edwin Watts Golf’s current TGIF TOURTM, the golf industry’s largest grassroots consumer retail tour, as Edwin Watts Golf reinforces the Company’s commitment to custom fitting for golfers in 2011. As part of the TGIF TOURTM, Edwin Watts Golf is partnering with leading equipment brands and utilizing the Company’s in-store launch monitors and swing analysis software to conduct performance fitting sessions at all TGIF TOURTM events, which also include new product testing, par 3 challenges, grip and cleat changing and much more.
