GCSANC Event set for July 25 at Sequoyah Country Club
Oakland, Calif.- The 4th Annual Clifford & Myrtle Wagoner Turfgrass Scholarship & Research Fundraising Tournament is set for Monday, July 25 at Sequoyah Country Club in Oakland, Calif. Hosted by the Northern California Chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSANC) this tournament benefits turfgrass research and scholarships.
Participants will tee it up at the pristinely-maintained Sequoyah CC, a course rich in history, and in the late 30’s and early 40’s was host to the Oakland Open. Besides golf on this championship course, the GCSANC event includes buffet lunch, raffle, and a live auction featuring golf equipment, sports memorabilia, tickets to major sporting events, foursomes of golf and stay & play getaways to top-rated Nor Cal courses and resorts.
“This tournament gives us a chance to bring golf course superintendents and other golf industry leaders together at a venue that has been home to the game of golf for nearly a century,” stated Host Superintendent Terry Grasso, CGCS, “and at the same time we are able to raise funds for turfgrass research and scholarships both key to the future of the game and the turfcare industry.”
Registration is set for 7:30 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. shotgun-start (4-person team, two-person better-ball, net & gross). Entry fee is $125.00 per player or $450.00 per foursome. The tournament is open to all golf course superintendents and turfcare industry representatives, golf professionals, general managers, course owners, allied association leaders and guests. For those interested in the lunch & auction only, that option is available.
