Proceeds Benefit Folds Of Honor Foundation
Tinley Park, Ill., June 30, 2011 – The Putts for Patriots Foundation announced an extension to their program through Labor Day 2011. The change allows more golfers to participate and help raise the goal of $1 million dollars for the Folds of Honor Foundation.
“It’s a great program that now coincides better with Patriot Golf Day, which is held during Labor Day weekend,” said Blair Subry, Putts For Patriots Foundation Board Member.
Putt for Patriots encourages golfers and non-golfers alike to support this worthy cause. Golfers get to play their favorite course, knowing each putt they take contributes to the Folds of Honor Foundation and non-golfers can support the cause by sponsoring their golfing friends and family. Golfers can sign up on the Putts For Patriots website to pledge to play golf during July 1 through Sept. 6. Family and friends can donate for every putt they take during their round.
“Golfers can pick any course and play anytime this summer,” Subry said. “Putt for Patriots not only is for a great cause, but it also supports the USGA’s Play Golf America initiative by encouraging more people to get out and play”.
Golfers who wish to Putt for Patriots can go online at www.PuttForPatriots.org and register. Once registered, they can easily contact family and friends through Facebook, Twitter and email. There are no restrictions on where to play, just a pledge to get out and play. Many state golf associations have started to support the program knowing it benefits the courses, golfers and veterans alike.
The event is sponsored by Bettinardi Golf. Those who pledge to putt and achieve various donation levels have a chance to win a trip for two to the Bettinardi studios for a custom putter fitting and a round of golf with Bob Bettinardi. Bettinardi is also producing a limited edition Patriot Golf putter with a percent of the sale also being donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation.
PGA Professional Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, is the founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation. He has served three tours in Iraq. The Folds of Honor Scholarship Fund provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military service members disabled or killed in the line of duty.
