BEAVERTON, Ore. (July 4, 2011) – Nike athlete John Cook recorded his third title on the Champions Tour in 2011 at The Montreal Championship after posting a bogey-free 6-under-par final round of 66. Cook now has won eight times in his career on the Champions Tour.
Starting the final round one shot back, Cook’s Nike Method putter quickly went to work for him as he grabbed two birdies on the first and second holes to take the lead. He expanded his lead to three at the turn and made a 12-foot clutch par putt at the 15 hole followed by a birdie on the 17th. Cook ranked second in putts per round with his Nike Method.
With the Nike VR Pro Blades in his bag, Cook ranked sixth in greens in regulation averaging 87%. The Nike VR franchise continues to be a key component for Nike athletes all around the world. In 2011, the Nike VR franchise has won 19 tournament titles on the professional tours, including one major championship by Nike athlete Charl Schwartzel at The Masters. The Nike Method putter has eight professional wins around the globe this season, including Schwartzel’s major championship victory at The Masters.
Now ranked third on the Champions Tour money list, Cook’s victory brings to 11 the total number of wins by Nike athletes in 2011.
